First edition. 9 color plates and 45 plates in black and white. xiv, 156, [2] pp. 1 vols. Small 4to. An important book with a spectacular provenance. Solon's book on Greek polychromatic architecture reawakened an interest in the use of color among architects and established Solon as the leading authority on the subject. It was Solon who collaborated a few years later with architect ELY JACQUES KAHN on one of New York City's most famous and colorful buildings, 2 Wall St. This copy comes from Kahn's library. Stern and Stuart, ELY JACQUES KAHN, ARCHITECT (NY.2006), PP. 204-205. Provenance: from the Estate of ELY JACQUES KAHN Black boards, blue cloth spine.
