black titles spine; "one of the most widely read prose writers in English, Swift has been generally kept out of the canon of English poetry. Yet the quality of his verse is so great that a genuine need exists for a fresh, new, truly representative edition that displays both the range and the extraordinary forcefulness of his poems. Padraic Colum, the distinguished Irish poet and critic, has for the first time collected Swift's best poetry in a new edition that demonstrates its importance for the modern reader. Rescuing Swift, as a poet, from the Romantic critics of the 19th century; the present selection demonstrates his energetic mind, his sense of drama, his detachment, his indignation, his moral passion and his tenderness. The result is a literary event of major importance."; a tight copy with minor fading to spine area; 126 pages. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Quantity Available: 1.
