The author provides an eyewitness account of their pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah. A party of one hundred and fifty set off in January 1870 via Jeddah and Aden, the author provides a noteworthy description of the stages of the Hajj. Hassan describes the return journey to England, comparing the education of Englishwomen with those of their Indian counterparts, commenting also on the various accounts of the unfair deposition of the Nawab that appeared in English journals.
