Although the yellow cloth cover appears a little grubby, the cloth itself is in good condition with no tears or fraying. The corners are a little bumped, but the spine fully intact. Both end papers have some brown staining. There is a little foxing on the first and last pages but minimal in the main body of the book. There are many photographic illustrations of the moves described. xiii, 152pp This book describes the principles of exercises that Japanese women have used for many years. It seems to be the precursor of what we consider now to be judo that was often called Kano jiu-jisu at that time but which a few decades after this book was published developed into Brazilian jiu-jitsu which is a well known martial art. The chapters include preliminary exercises, exercises for the waistline, those for the back,obesity and its remedies, and 'fresh air the vitaliser in womanhood'.
