About this Item
This copy manufactured under Book Production War Economy Standard, in Great Britain. Book gives a representative selection of emission and rectifier types of light-sensitive cells in use within industry with only a superficial explanation of the theory behind why they operate. Extensive list of references at the end of each chapter for those who require deeper explanations. Uses range from sorting beans by size to embedding soundtracks into movie filmstrips. Illustrated with B&W photos, graphs, circuit diagrams and line-drawings. x + 517pp. Biographic information for the author is not easy to find. R. C. Walker has been identified as Ronald Claude Walker for similar titles published. Hardcover has black cloth boards with white lettering on spine, standard photo-cell on front, but no DJ. Because war economy standards were still in effect, thinner boards & pages than one might expect. Pages are semi-gloss with an extraordinary number of illustrations. Interior is tight, clean and mostly unmarked, but maimed. This copy has been reworked from being a public library copy to appear privately owned. Front end-pages glued together, filing label removed from spine, white-out of info on reverse of title page, bottoms and tops of pages neatly cut off to hide library ink-stamps. Square corners, very little shelf-wear no ownership markings. Stated First Published 1948, with 1948 on title page implying this copy printed in 1948. 1st printing likely. Made in Great Britain. No ISBN, LCCN nor MSR. Seller Inventory # 007939
