Light wear to tops and tails of spines; edges, shoulders and corners rubbed, light staining to some endpapers and a slipped section in Vol. II; small slit in top left margin of pages 19 - 32 of volume III with no loss to text but otherwise pages clean, text bright and binding tight. Published anonymously, the longest of Scott s novels and later revised by him, it is set in Cheshire, London and the Isle of Man against a backdrop of Roundheads, Cavaliers and the Popish plot.
