Volume 1 only, of 2. First printing of a 1992 softcover reprint edition of General Nelson A. Miles's memoirs of his days in the U.S. Army. Beginning with American history from the time of New England colonies, the General tells of his experiences in the Civil War and especially in the Indian Wars. Profusely illustrated in black & white with photos, drawings and reproductions of paintings by Frederick Remington. Includes an introduction for this edition by Robert Wooster. This work originally published in 1896 by the Werner Company of Chicago. --- In black wraps with detail from color Remington painting, "Pony Tracks in the Buffalo Trails" to front cover. --- An about-Near Fine copy with shallow creases to corners of a few leaves and very slight rubbing to covers, otherwise bright, tightly-bound and newish.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; (6), 319 pages.
