Softcover; text bound in plain, stiff cardboard covers with a glossy, illustrated dust jacket attached at book spine with oversize flaps covering the covers. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O bookplate on the front board. Book Condition: Very Good; toning to bottom edges of covers; DJ is not strongly affixed at spine. DJ: Very Good; NOT Price Clipped ($2.50): light rubbing to panels; small closed tear at bottom of DJ; bumping to head and tail with tape repairs to tail. Two B&W plates tipped-in, in the introduction; Nine color plates tipped-in to accent the text of The Story of Rustam. 32 pp 4to. Beginning in legendary antiquity the Shahnama or "Book of Kings" sweeps across ages of Persian civilization i and epic poem of some 60,000 verse by the 10th Century poet Firdausi. Its stream f events traces the fortunes of heroes and kings, telling of their exploits and splendor, their vast armies and devastating wars. The Story of Rustam is a favorite drama, he was the most extraordinary of heroes, a major figure in the mythical period of the epic, was destined from birth to be a guardian, and sometimes savior to the Persian people.
