From the Back Cover
In Pearls of Garden Wisdom, authors Deborah S. Tukua and Vicki West have collected over 500 gardening tips - for the lawn, the orchard, the flower bed, and more - each designed to yield complete satisfaction from the soil. Here, they combine years of hard-earned experience with invaluable hints they've gathered from farmers and neighbors who live in nearby rural towns. Much of this tried-and-true advice has been passed down through generations of men and women who have worked and lived off the land. Tukua and West tell readers how to grow flowers, fruits, vegetables, and herbs, both indoors and out, and then use their harvest in everything from salads to natural remedies to household decorations. They also offer various solutions to such questions as how to successfully bring a garden through a harsh winter or extremely dry summer; how to set-up and maintain a greenhouse and/or potting shed; how to keep a garden virtually pest-free and how to help children enjoy the satisfaction of gardening. (5 3/4 x 8 1/2, 352 pages, b&w photos, recipes)
