First authorized edition published by Thomas Y. Crowell & Company, New York 1889. Four volumes in two blue cloth volumes with gold gilt embossing. Light rubbing to cloth boards at corners and spine, otherwise near fine. Binding square and tight. No loose pages or creasing to spine. Previous owner's bookplate on inside front board with owner's initials and date of 1906 in pencil. Minor flaw to corners of six pages in second volume slightly dog-eared.
