Item description from seller

"Using the metaphor of the California rabbit drive, in which thousands of rabbits were driven into a small corral where they were slaughtered by waiting men, this temperance tract depicts boys as they unwitting victims of liquor". With Full page half-tone cuts from photographs taken upon the field during different stages of the drive. In California and other areas of the west, it became necessary hold large rabbit drives to protect the new orchards, vineyards, and fields. The idea of driving rabbits into corrals where they could be easily killed apparently had origins in native American societies. A unique look at California cultural history. Uncommon in original edition, without library markings.
