Item description from seller

First Edition. Softcover / Pictorial Card Wrappers. Octavo. Approx. 120–140 pp. Original publisher's cream card wrappers featuring a striking brown linework illustration of the iconic Gloucester Fisherman's Memorial (Man at the Wheel) by artist Rauch. Illustrated throughout with regional sketches, maps, and historical reflections. An ex-library copy in solid Good condition (no mylar). Wrappers show gentle handling wear, light edge rubbing, and a small classification label taped at the bottom left corner of the front cover. Usual internal library treatments present (e.g., discard stamp, circulation pocket, or cataloging marks on preliminaries). Binding is square, firm, and structurally intact. Aside from library markings, text pages are clean and readable throughout with no major staining or loose leaves. A scarce, affectionate regional portrait of Cape Ann by local historian, librarian, and educator David A. Siegenthaler. Weaving personal observation, local lore, and maritime heritage, Siegenthaler explores the rugged coastal geography, granite quarries, fishing traditions, and distinctive cultural character of Gloucester, Rockport, Essex, and Manchester-by-the-Sea. A hard-to-find addition for Massachusetts coastal history collections and Cape Ann regional enthusiasts.
