First Edition. octavo, green boards with a shamrock design on front cover in pictorial dust jacket. (78)pp. Edmond Byrne Hackett, Illustrated with black and white photographs. The youngest Wing Commander in Royal Air Force history, Finucane claimed 32 air victories. He fought in the Battle of Britain and was killed in action on 12 July 1942. This copy is signed by Reynolds on the dedication page with "(star symbol) '42" following his signature. From the library and with the ownership inscription of World War One RFC/RAF pilot Arch Whitehouse: "Property of '42' Arch Whitehouse Westmoreland, New Hampshire". Laid into the book is a typed letter, signed from Arch Whitehouse to: "Dear Bob: Herewith the two books you want. I'll take your valuation on them and thank you. Please note that the Finucane book is autographed by James Reynolds. That might improve its value. Cheers! Arch Whitehouse.". Tiny chip to head of dust jacket, otherwise both book and jacket in very fine, clean condition.
