Item description from seller

First American edition, SECOND printing before publication. "First published in the United States of America in 1970 by the Walker Publishing Company, Inc." statement to the copyright page, $4.95 to the jacket's flap. After doing two prison years for a crime he can't remember, Jim Parker returns home, finds out about an upcoming crime, tells the police, and gets into trouble with revenging crooks in his small town. Accused falsely again, only his wife and a detective friend believe him. Faint age-toning to the inner hinge areas and to the cover shelf-edges as usual, else tight, square and near fine in textured antique-cream boards with black embossed titles to the spine; in a very good plus dust jacket with mild creases to the spine panel, rubbed crimps to the upper and lower spine edges, and crimps to the upper edge of the rear panel; original printed $4.95 price still intact to the front inner flap. Roderic Jeffries is the son of Bruce Graeme (author of the Blackshirt series).
