It is not only about solving old issues between the sides, It is also about how both peoples can grow and prosper in the future. / "This book, full of creative ideas and original insights, proposes to see the territory Israelis and Palestinians fight for not as divisive but as an opportunity, for they can share it in the framework of a confederative system of government." ~ SHLOMO BEN~AMI, former foreign minister, Israel / "This is an amazingly easy~reading narrative. I could not put it down. You can remove the author's Jewish name and substitute any Palestinian with a moderate point and good will, and the ideas can represent both." ~ MUNTHER DAJANI, dean, Faculty of Arts, Al Quds University, Jerusalem; co~founder, Wasatiyyah (Moderation) movement / Josef Avesar's interesting new book does not shock me. It is well reasoned, and sensible. The land between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River is too small to allow for two states with a hermetically sealed border between. It would condemn both states to a ghetto~like existence. Avesar's new thinking is needed now more than ever." ~ URI AVNERY, peace activist; former member, Irgun and Knesset / "This timely book shows that confederation may not be merely one more option, it may be the best and most humane option for both peoples. Instead of two nation states locked in deadly embrace, why not consider opting for an embrace built on mutual dependency and a common future? Avesar's vision may sound like a fantasy but so did Herzl's when he published Der Judenstat. This book deserves wide readership and its ideas deserve serious consideration." ~ M.J. ROSENBERG, senior foreign policy fellow, Media Matters .…
