STEWART, Charles D. PARTNERS OF PROVIDENCE. Illustrated by C.J. Taylor. Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, [1907]. Small 8vo., embossed orange cloth, stamped in gilt. First Edition but a later printing? The copyright page lists The Century Company as the publisher and "The Century Co." imprint is also stamped in gilt at the base of the spine. However, the title page bears the Houghton Mifflin imprint & no date. I have been able to locate only one other copy of this Houghton Mifflin variant. Signed presentation from Stewart on the front endpaper: "To Urania Schuster from her friend Chas. D. Stewart. Hartford, June 15, 1931." Beneath the presentation Schuster has written: "Given to me by Mr. Stewart at the time of my graduation from Milwaukee Downer College. The Stewarts attended the graduation service." Books signed by Stewart are uncommon! A novel set on the Mississippi River. Very Good (little fading spine; contents clean & tight but for some browning front endpapers & to one page of text). $125.00. Seller Inventory # 1413
