(London: Putnam 1937). First UK Edition. Publisher's dark red cloth with gilt titles to the spine. A bright and clean near fine copy (base of spine a little soft and edges a trifle toned). The cloth very lightly handled to the extremities but overall, an excellent example. No inscriptions. In the RARE dustwrapper priced 12s 6d net to the inside flap (as called for). The dustwrapper is in VG condition with fraying/minor surface loss to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities and the usual toning to the back panel. This is the "true" English-language first edition that preceded its US publication by 12 months. Modern Library considered "Out of Africa" to be one of the 10 Best Non-Fiction Novels of the Twentieth Century. The basis for the 1985 movie of the same name direct and produced by Sydney Pollack and starring Meryl Streep, Robert Redford and Klaus Maria Brandauer.
