"A personal record of the Orkney shore, including observations on its marine fauna and biographical notes on early Orkney naturalists. It also presents the shore as having a dominant influence on the way of life in the isalnds. The five Appendices preserve records (many of them hitherto unpublished) of Orkney marine life." Orkney Shore, by Robert Rendall. Published by W. R. Mackintosh, The Kirkwall Press, Kirkwall, Orkney, November 1960. First edition. A scarce publication - particularly with its original dustjacket. Worldcat identifies just 13 copies in libraries worldwide of the first edition. A very good teal cloth hardback with very minor bumping. Small area of sunfading to the tail of the spine - around 4mm high. The dustjacket is intact with some wear and nibbles along the top edge. Age toned to spine and fold areas. The jacket is covered with removable plastic. All soundly bound. Light offsetting to endpapers. Previous owner's signature and date to first blank. Text is clean and bright throughout. The edge of the text block is age spotted. A nice example of an uncommon first edition. Text in English. x + 11-200pp. Approximate dimensions: 224mm high x 150mm wide x 27mm deep. Weighs approximately 406g (unpacked). More photos on request.…
