A scarce volume in need of some restoration. Internal repairs to the front and back hinges. Some staining to rear board (possibly damp that has partly discoloured the rear cloth covering). 102pp with many unnumbered pages of illustrations.A G Hill (1857-1923) became head of the distinguished organ builders W Hill and Son on the death of his father in 1893. He had received a classical education and trained as an architect. He travelled widely and made a particular study of historic organ cases. His first book on organ cases was published in 1883 and this second volume appeared in 1891. Hill?s beautifully executed drawings are crisply reproduced by photolithography and accompanied by detailed notes. From the collection of the late Peter Collins, organ builder.
