Attractive (early 20th Century?) green half-calf binding with green cloth boards. Page dimensions: 318 x 200mm. Printed on blue paper. 19th century stationer's label on front endpaper: "A. R. Livingston, Stationer and Account Book Manufacturer. Dunedin. Contractor for Government Stationery". Occasionally a highly interesting and suggestive primary source for Otago's early European history, when one reads between the lines of legalese: "Any person who shall commit any of the next following offences, shall be deemed an idle and disorderly person, within the meaning of this Ordinance [. . .] Any habitual drunkard having been thrice convicted of drunkenness within the preceding twelve months, and any common prostitute, who in any street or public highway, or being in any place of public resort, shall behave in a riotous or indecent manner [. . .] Any person who shall commit any of the next following offences shall be deemed a rogue and a vagabond [. . .] Any person found by night having his face blackened, or wearing felt or other slippers, or being dressed or otherwise disguised with a felonius intent." - pages 257-259. ; 4to.
