Oversized cloth hardcovers, first edition of 1700 copies, multilingual, weight 2.75kg. No ISBN, NOT ex-library. Gently aged with light wear, clean condition, unmarked text. Short tears in dust jackets. -- Opera minora is a two-volume collection of 66 of the most significant articles and critical reviews by the renowned Polish legal historian Rafael Taubenschlag. Published posthumously in 1959, these "minor works" are a foundational resource for the study of ancient law, particularly the legal systems of Greco-Roman Egypt and their relationship with broader Mediterranean law. The volumes are divided into a general and specialised part, maintaining the original languages of the papers. Vol.1 contains 14 articles focusing on broad legal frameworks: A. Römisches Privatrecht: Analysis of Roman Private Law. B. Römisches Provinzialrecht und die Volksrechte: Examination of Roman Provincial Law and indigenous local laws. C. Griechische Stadtrechte: Studies on Greek municipal or city laws. Vol.2 includes 52 articles dealing with the law of Greco-Roman Egypt, organised by legal institution: A. Quellen: Discussion of legal sources; B. Allgemeines: General principles of law; C. Zur Lehre vom Rechtsgeschäft: Theories on legal transactions; D–H. Legal Categories: Includes sections on Personal Law (Personen-), Property Law (Sachen-), Obligations (Obligationen-), Procedure (Prozess-), and Criminal Law (Strafrecht). Taubenschlag's work is noted for identifying striking analogies between ancient Near Eastern legal regulations (such as Babylonian law) and their counterparts in Greek-Egyptian, Roman, and Byzantine systems. -- Volume 1 [xvi+639pp] Das römische Privatrecht zur Zeit Diokletians; Die Geschichte der Rezeption des römischen Privatrechts in Aegypten; Il diritto provinciale romano nel Libro Siro-Romano; Introduction to the Law of the Papyri; Der Einfluss der Provinzialrechte auf das römische Privatrecht; Keilschriftrecht im Rechte der Papyri der römischen und byzantinischen Zeit; Die römischen Behörden und das Volksrecht vor und nach der C.A.; Le droit local dans les Digesta et Responsa de Cervidius Scaevola; Le droit local dans les constitutions prédioclétiennes; Syrische Rechtsbücher, III Bd.; Die Geschichte der Rezeption des griechischen Privatrechts in Aegypten; Ancient Greek-City-Laws in Ptolemaic Egypt; Das attische Recht in der Komödie Menanders Epitrepontes; Volume 2 [vii+844pp] Imperial Constitutions in the Papyri; Papyri and Parchments from the Eastern Provinces of the Roman Empire outside Egypt; Die kaiserlichen Privilegien im Rechte der Papyri; Legislation of Justinian in the Light of the Papyri; Customary Law and Custom in the Papyri; Nomos in the Papyri; Die Auslegung der Gesetze im Rechte der Papyri; Les publications officielles du stratège dans l'Égypte gréco-romain; Selfhelp in Greco-Roman Egypt; Inviolability of Domicile in Greco-Roman Egypt; Herald in the Law of the Papyri; Legal Profession in Greco-Roman Egypt; Interpreters in the Papyri; Periods and Terms in Greco-Roman Egypt; Errors of Officials in Roman Egypt; Die Geschäftsmängel im Rechte der Papyri; Citizens and Non-Citizens in the Papyri; Das Sklavenrecht im Rechte der Papyri; Notes on W.L.Westermann's article, Slave Maintenance and Slave Revolts; Die patria potestas im Recht der Papyri; Die materna potestas im gräko-ägyptischen Recht; La [Girokomía] dans le droit des papyrus; [Énnomos ilikía] nel diritto dei papiri; La compétence du [xýrios] dans le droit gréco-egyptien; Der Schutz der Rechtsverhältnisse an Liegenschaften im gräko-ägyptischen Recht; Miscellanea papirologica [díki karpoú & La costruzione sul terreno proprio e sul terreno altrui]; Das Recht auf eísodos und éxodos in den Papyri; Rechtsverhältnisse an der Grenzmauer im Rechte der Papyri; Miszellen aus dem römischen Grabrecht; Le droit contractuel égyptien d'après les papyrus grecs; [+23 more articles and Index of Sources pp 743-844]].…
