22p + 22 large mounted plates, 4 in color and the rest in grey tones. No jacket (if issued?). The first volume in the publisher's Artists of the Present-Day Series, ed. by W. Shaw Sparrow. This impressive book was published in conjunction with Kemp-Welch's first solo exhibition (she had already shown with others at the Royal Academy and sold a painting to the Tate Gallery, one of its first acquisitions by a woman artist). The subjects are chiefly studies of horse heads, farm animals, and birds. The frontispiece (shown here) is the only color plate with horses. WorldCat locates only a few copies in the US.
