About this Item
Quarto, 96pp. A very good, clean copy, with one 4pp. section in the middle (a single folded leaf) detached, but present, and laid-in (this includes the panoramic team photograph). Large owner's name on the rear wrap (a Notre Dame grad). Despite these flaws, a bright, otherwise unmarked copy of this beautifully illustrated souvenir program from Notre Dame's historic 1929 season under the leadership of Knute Rockne, which earned them a perfect record against strong opponents, and a national title under the "Dickinson System." Rockne is reported to have described the 1929 team as the best he ever coached. The contents of this program includewell over 100 illustrations from photographs, along with biographies, synopses, and also some local advertisements. Curiously, OCLC records just a single holding of this program, at the Indiana State Library (rather than Notre Dame!), though we presume there are a few more extant copies floating around. Nevertheless, a scarce and fantastic ephemeral relic from this historic college football season. Seller Inventory # 8493
