8vo. pp 275. Philosophical novel written under the initials "M.M." by Mathilda, the Dowager Duchess of Argyll. The book is presented as a novel that serves as a vehicle for the author's personal quest for truth and spiritual reflection. She chose to publish it anonymously/pseudonymously because she wanted the text to be judged entirely on its own merits rather than her aristocratic title. The Plot: Described as a novelized vehicle for a spiritual quest, it follows a character named Oriana pseudonym for her real-life youngest son, Alexander Coster-Helleron a deep search for truth. Some fantasy elements. Because of the small scale of the Edinburgh imprint, original hardcovers from Phoenix Redivivus are uncommon. Very good indeed in very good indeed dust jacket. Price-clipped, with very small label of the occult bookseller Watkins, on the end paper. Fine in very good dust jacket. About fine. First Edition. Hardback. Dust Jacket.
