A Londres et se trouve à Paris, chés les libraires nommés en tête du catalogue, 1788-1794. 16 volumes in-8° formant 8 tomes et 16 parties, couvertures de livraison, sous 3 chemises et 9 étuis modernes de papier marbré, pièces de titre et de tomaison dorées sur veau fauve. Edition originale de cet exemplaire exceptionnel, complet de la quinzième et de la rarissime seizième partie, de toutes ses 19 planches (attribuées à Binet) ainsi que du célèbre grand portrait dépliant de Restif en tête de la douzième partie. Parmi les planches figurent la rare "Billard des gueux" (face à la page 1864) et la planche représentant Bailly remettant les clefs de Paris à Louis XVI, toutes deux sont absentes de la plupart des exemplaires. La seizième partie s'ouvre sur une saisissante planche en frontispice représentant Charlotte Corday conduite à l'échafaud. L'exemplaire est enrichi d'un portrait d'époque en couleurs de la comédienne Louise Contat, placé dans la douzième partie face à la page 2645. Les quatorze premières parties sont à pagination continue : (2) feuillets, 3359 pages. La quinzième (Paris, Guillot, 1790 ; 264 p. et 12 f. de tables) parut deux ans plus tard sous le titre "Semaine nocturne". La seizième partie, publiée en pleine Terreur en 1794, est donnée comme "rarissime" par Rives Childs et "presque introuvable" par Cohen. Le libraire Mérigot, inquiet de la tournure des événements, n'osa pas la mettre en vente et détruisit la plupart des exemplaires en sa possession ; le bibliophile Jacob affirmait qu'"on peut s'assurer qu'il n'en existe pas dix exemplaires". "Les Nuits de Paris sont plus qu'un recueil d'anecdotes pittoresques : pour leur étrangeté poétique, le mystère qu'on devine dans les détails familiers, la bizarrerie des rencontres, on peut les rapprocher d'oeuvres modernes inspirées par la capitale, Le Spleen de Paris, Le Paysan de Paris ou Nadja" (Coulet, 'Le Roman jusqu'à la Révolution', p. 493). Avec leurs XVe et XVIe parties, les Nuits constituent également un journal de la Révolution depuis avril 1789 jusqu'en octobre 1793, dont Rives Childs souligne "l'intérêt exceptionnel". (Cohen, 882. Lacroix, 258. Rives Childs, XXIV, p. 303-307). Grand ex-libris gravé et cachet de la bibliothèque des princes Starhemberg sur cinq des volumes. Quelques accrocs et petites restaurations éparses, taches sans gravité et brunissures aux deux derniers volumes. Tous les volumes sont brochés et non rognés. Très bon exemplaire. If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Librairie HATCHUEL, PARIS, France, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
Shipping costs are calculated on the basis of one book = one kilo. If the books ordered are particularly heavy or oversized, you will be informed that additional shipping costs are required.
