Second printing of this pulitzer prize winning book, with 1935 on the title page, 1934 on the colophon with no additional printings stated. A sound copy, being well bound, sturdy, and firm. The brown boards are clean except for a tiny white paint stain to the rear board and some very faint sporadic traces of this paint mostly on the rear board and very minorly on the front board. Not egregious. Some faint vertical scratches to rear board as well. Title pastedown on from board is clean and legible, pastedown label on spine darkened. The reason for this darkening, along with that to the rest of the spine, is that this came from the home of a tobacco smoker, which left the spine toned and a very faint odor that is not very strong or offensive, especially mingling as it does with the regular odor of a book nearly 100 years old. Interior is clean except owners neat signature in pen on the front and rear pastedowns. Otherwise no marks, and clean besides, with some amount of ordinary toning to the pages from age. Solidly bound with a very slightly wider opening of the gutter between pages 8 and 9. Despite all of the aforementioned, still a handsome copy of this early printing.
