No date (1888), 112 pages 12 pages of publishers adverts + (2).Tipped in after index and before the publishers adverts, a double sided advert on brown paper for William CrossLiverpool for Pet Monkeys, Gorillas, chimpanzees , Orang Outans etc to verso " live stock of every description see the Bazar Exchange and Mart". The contents clean and tight with nob marks or inscriptions. Publishers slate blue cloth, gilt title to upper board with gilt monkey vignette within gilt ruled borders and decorative blind stamped animal scenes. Gilt title to the spine with monkey head vignette.The cloth clean and tight with no chips or splits faint 2 mm line mark to the upper cover. A very good + copy of Patterson's third book of an unusual title based on the experiences he gained at Preston Pleasure Gardens. There was also an edition published in 1888 in a brown cloth binding and title page dated. A second edition appeared in 1906.
