Item description from seller
According to an estimate 33 lakh NGOs are active in India and more than fifty thousand of them are working internationally. According to a study, more than 40 crore Indians are associated with voluntary work in some form or the other. Several studies have been undertaken in this field and many books have also been written. But they are mostly scholarly works and relate to various fields and regions in which voluntary organizations are working. Hardly any of them cover the whole range of the topics related to voluntary work. This book is unique in the sense that it brings together the whole range of topics theoretical, legal and practical related to NGO work. The book, which is a result of long years of experience of the authors in the NGO sector, presents the challenges and successes in this field in a coherent and comprehensible manner. The book begins with a brief history of voluntary work in India alongwith a discussion on ethical issues surrounding the NGOs, and then provides guidance on how to create, lead, and manage an effective organization. Study of few model NGOs have also been presented as case studies. It will be invaluable to all those studying or working in NGOs, the voluntary sector or development studies. (jacket).…
