Condition: Very Good to Near Fine. First Edition. 2015. Ex-Library book. The hardcover remains in strong condition, exhibiting no wear, fraying, or tears, with remarkably well preserved coverboards that retain their original texture and color. The dust jacket is near fine, clean and bright, with no tears and only the faintest trace of handling beneath the protective library cover. All 224 pages are clean, crisp, and unmarked, with no folds, writing, highlighting, or other markings. The volume features beautiful color drawings, all well reproduced and free of wear. This copy was formerly part of a public library collection and carries a small library label at the top of the front panel and a catalog label on the lower spine, both affixed to the clear library cover that currently protects the dust jacket. A library withdrawn stamp is present, but no library pocket was ever affixed. A well kept, high grade copy with minimal library traces and excellent overall preservation. A powerful and visually arresting work highlighting the world’s most critically endangered bird species, Nextinction blends scientific urgency with artistic expression to raise awareness of avian extinction threats across the globe. Through vivid illustrations and concise, accessible profiles, the book presents each species with striking detail, emphasizing habitat loss, environmental pressures, and conservation challenges. Created as a follow up to the acclaimed Extinct, this volume continues the collaboration between artist Ralph Steadman and conservationist Ceri Levy, combining bold artwork, sharp commentary, and environmental advocacy. Both an informative reference and a compelling art piece, Nextinction serves as an engaging call to action for bird lovers, conservation supporters, and collectors of contemporary natural history illustration Due to the substantial size and weight of some hardcover volumes, additional shipping may be required.…

About the Author
Ralph Steadman was born in 1936. He began his career as a cartoonist, and through the years has diversified into many creative fields. Ralph collaborated with Dr Hunter S. Thompson in the birth of 'gonzo' journalism, with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas; he has illustrated classics such as Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island and Animal Farm, and written and illustrated his own books, which include Sigmund Freud, I Leonardo and The Big I Am. Steadman is also a printmaker, and has travelled the world's vineyards, culminating in his books The Grapes of Ralph, Untrodden Grapes and Still Life with Bottle. Steadman's recent books for Bloomsbury include his epic collection of bird illustrations, Extinct Boids.
Ceri Levi is a filmmaker, who started out making music videos before moving into the world of documentaries. His works include Bananaz, a film about the inner machinations of the group Gorillaz, and the forthcoming The Bird Effect; he is also co-curator of Ghosts of Gone Birds, and therefore a crucial cog in the boids' creation myth.
