Item description from seller

Sometimes included with "An abstract of an essay on the improvement of husbandry and working of mines. In a letter to the Right Honourable Sir Robert Walpole. To which is added, a new method of measuring lands, hills, houses, towns, rivers, standing-waters and sea-coasts: with a cutt of the instrument. By Sir Alexander Murray of Stanhope, 1733. Murray is given credit for discovering, in 1722, a substantial deposit of lead ore at what is the present location of the Strontian Mines. He wrote "The true interest of Great Britain, Ireland and our plantations: or, a proposal for making such an union between Great Britain and Ireland, and already made betwixt Scotland and England. in 1740 with a fine plan of Loch Sunart and the Strontian mines." This pamphlet has a separate title page, a fine plate and is priced at 6d - the full title above is priced at 1/-. Presumably it was issued independently - though pagination is p.58-80. The pamphlet is bound in firm thick plain grey boards with a large folding plate. No marks or signatures. See scans.
