This is the section dealing with Yorkshire, only, from the first edition of this topographical description of England and Wales. Consisting of 22 pages of descriptive text with 4 maps, three of which have contemporary hand coloured outlines. The fourth map is Stukely's uncoloured folding map of Roman Britain. The three full page Yorkshire maps consist of Yorkshire showing Post Roads, the East Riding of Yorkshire and the North Riding of Yorkshire. This section was originally published with a map of the West Riding of Yorkshire and Richmondshire - both of which are absent from this extracted section, although there is a 6 page section of text devoted to Richmondshire. The section has been bound with modern worn and repaired brown paper wraps to which parts of the title page have been laid down. The full page Yorkshire maps measure 34.5 X 22cm and are in very good condition. A single bookworm hole runs through the base of the entire section and Yorkshire maps, near the hinge, but without any loss. The post road map is loose as is the folding Stukeley map which has some creasing and a corner missing. The map of the North Riding shows the locations of Lead Mines, Allom Works and Coal Pitts and all three Yorkshire maps have vignettes of local antiquities in their margins.
