This is an eighteenth century short-hand tutor published, according to ESTC, in 1770(?) but which has "1766" written in pencil at bottom of engraved title page. Containing 28 copper plate engravings plus an engraved title page. Ex Birmingham Free Libraries with "discarded book" stamped twice. Half bound in marbelled boards with a modern reback and bookplate on front pastedown. With an appendix referring to the use of shorthand i relation to music. Conforms to ESTC reference T139708. Complete but water staining to book which mainly affects the text pages. The folding plate V has damage to fore-edge which has been crudely repaired at some time with archival tape with some loss.
