Item description from seller

First and only edition. Small 4to. 103 pp. In a contemporary green half-morocco, with marbled paper sides and matching end-papers, spine gilt. teg. Frontispiece of The Salmon Leap and Mill at Coleraine rather foxed as usual. Title page with signature(?) excised, not affecting text. Ffep with Dublin booksellers stamp. In the apparently hot summer of 1825 Gilpin Gorst travelled to Ireland on Society business and left us this quirky account of what he found there. In 1843 W.H. Sharp was to write in Retrospect of the Affairs of the Irish Society that this narrative was .a curious and private publication although printed at the Society's cost, copies of which are very scarce. Rare on the market to this day. With a page from the Londonderry Sentinel Aug. 17 1886, reporting on a later visit by the Society, loosely inserted.
