Front board has tonal emblem of eagle on a branch in a stamped circle/emblem.Pages yellowed due to age; spine through wear and tear has some smudging. Back flypiece has some water drops. Portrait frontispiece of Cauliaincour. Additional four illustrations throughout this edition as well as a Map of the Emperor's Route to Moscow and the Retreat along with a sketch of the crossing of the Beresina. Biographical notes begin on page 403-411. First edition, second printing. This book concludes the Memoirs of De Cauliaincourt, begun in With Napoleon in Russia (1933). De Cauliaincourt was a close personal aide to Napoleon I who is said to have influenced the Tsar Alexander I for provision to be made for the Emperor on the island of Elba after his forced abdication.`.
