This book on "interior housekeeping" offers rare insights by an exemplary editor of spiritual works. Toinette Lippe had a long and distinguished career at Simon & Schuster and Alfred A. Knopf before founding her own Bell Tower imprint. Here, she illuminates the true measure of a life lived in terms of usefulness and impecability rather than accomplishments or possessions. With subtle wit, wonderfully evocative language, and clear-eyed wisdom, she teaches us how to cultivate what is essential and let go of what isn't--showing how to move through the day with integrity, elegant economy and grace. Philosopher Jacob Needleman notes, "I can think of no greater praise than to say this is an honest book; it helps us understand what the values of 'simple living' are really meant to impart in a complicated and unsimple world, not just theoretically, but in the details of our everyday existence." 257 pages. Fine condition in a fine dust jacket.
