NEW YORK FISHERIES GAME & FOREST COMMISSION 3RD REPORT 1897 9 DENTON PLATES ++. On offer here is a very nice copy of the Third Annual Report of the New York State Commissioners of Fisheries, Game and Forests. This very large hard cover book (8 ¾ x 11 ¾ inches, 455 pages) was published by the Commission and presented to the Speaker of the New York State Assembly in Albany dated January 20, 1898. It was printed by Wynkoop, Hallenbeck & Crawford Co. Printers of New York and Albany. The book is bound in greenish woven cloth boards with black decorations and titles on cover and spine. The book is nicely illustrated with 14 color items, nine (9- all present and accounted for; I know, I checked) of them are color fish plates by Denton, 4 are of Birds that prey on fish by Ridgeway and one is a colored fold-out map of the Catchment Basins of the Several (Major) Rivers of the State. There are also numerous b&w illustrations including drawings and vintage photographs. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled but still quite presentable with some bumping to the corners and spine tips. There has been some rubbing to the back cover which has lightened the finish in places. Inside, the only mark I found was a stamped compliments of notice on the half title page. The interior pages are clean and bright, perhaps just a bit toned but so evenly that it is hard to say and there is no foxing. The front hinge is whole, the back starting but the binding still feels sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
