Quarto book in handsome black cloth binding with bright and bold gilt titles on spine and on front, gilt embossed animals in flight on front-very attractive. Pictorial blue/green/grey jacket with bird colony on front, very clean, no markings, faint wear to some extremities, not price clipped. A thought-provoking survey of the movements of living organisms. "The Mystery of Migration" is the first book for the general reader to propose that all animals migrate from choice and with judgment and not only by instinct; that plants are also migrants, moving either as seeds or spores or as whole plants; that man the nomad, man the explorer, man the commuter is a migrant; and that exploration, nomadism, emigration, and immigration are as much a part of migration as the classic seasonal movements. 256 pages, indexed. 8.75 x 11.25 inches. Over 6 lbs. Viking Press, USA, 1981.…
