Hard Cover. Near Fine --/Very Good+++. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The subject of this extraordinary novel is Charles Dickens. The author has taken this singular figure -- from biographies, from personal scholarship, from Dickens' own work --and brought him roaring into life as he was at the end of his days: A desperate. wretched man in physical and emotional agony, obsessed with his emotional power over his readers. A fascinating read. Dust jacket has light wear notably at the top edge at spine. Previous owner's book plate on front end paper. Overall nice copy.
