Fair condition; once hardcover, now without covers. Sewn binding, lacking covers and spine; textblock remains tightly bound, leaves remain supple. Issued as a weekly during 1853 and 1854, was intended to be a magazine of popular music. Consists of 24 issues from 1 - 29: 2 were double numbers (5+6, 13+14); nos. 15 and 16 are reversed in order; following a fire there was apparently no issues 17 + 18; no. 21 is missing but there is an unnumbered issue. With various pagings (7-8 pp per issue), each issue typically had words and music for 1 - 3 pieces. Includes 'The Celebrated New English Dance - Pop Goes the Weasel' and songs, polkas, waltzes by: D'Albert, Kucken, Balfe, Jullien, Meyerbeer, Speyer, Mozart, Purcell, Schubert, many others.
