First Printing of the First UK edition. Black cloth, gilt titles, pushed at the spine tips, corners bumped. Otherwise, square and tight, the block remains reasonably fresh, the covers very clean. Free from foxing/spotting, no owner names etc. A nice copy although not "Fine". The dustjacket has a few wrinkles/edge creases, has a short, tape-repaired tear at the crown (one inch in length, approx) and the upper corner of the lower panel is split with minor loss. One further small split/abrasion at the heel. Good only. Becoming hard-to-find, however - the first hardcover edition of this title.
