Paperback trade, very good condition, pages lightly toned as common, minor edgewear, cover design differs from stock photo. 226 pp. This unusual award-winning Australian novel by Elizabeth Jolley is a satire about nursing homes. Mr Scobie's arrival at the dysfunctional nursing home of St Christopher and St Jude, run erratically by Matron Price, changes lives. A very simple riddle, plus nephew Hartley and a group of nocturnal poker players, ultimately lead to change in the establishment. The author was a former nurse.
