First UK Edition (first printing), issued two years after the US edition. 8vo. 242pp. Reddy-brown cloth lettered and bordered in gold at the spine. Top edge spotted, with a touch of further spotting to the fore edge, encroaching a little to the margins of occasional text leaves. Slight ridge to the backstrip, and the upper tip of the front free endpaper absent, resulting in perhaps a centimetre of loss. A nice crisp copy in in non-price-clipped dust wrapper designed by A.M.Schwartzman, a little rubbed at the spine panel ends, lightly toned and spotted, and with some lifting of the publisher's laminate in two or three small areas. The author's first book, winner of the National Book Award for Fiction. This UK edition (re-titled 'The Movie-Goer' from 'The Moviegoer') is considerably more uncommon that its US predecessor.
