Orig. published in hardcover in 1894, this is the First Mass Market Paperback, First Printing, reissued as part of "The Natural History Library" by Anchor Books, in 300 pages + 8 pages of black-and-white photos in center, maps drawn by Rafael Palacios, Foreword by Dr. Jack McCornick of the American Museum of Natural History. Condition is Near fine: exceptionally clean & bright, with just a hint of tanning to outer page edges.Binding strong & straight, pages unmarked save for lovely gift inscription to half-title page. Slight rubbing to extremities in a couple spots, mild dent to head of spine, light foxing to top outside page edges; nicely protected in free mylar collector bag.
