First edition in English. Daumal's allegorical adventure, first published in French in 1952, was an inspiration for Alejandro Jodorowsky's cult film, The Holy Mountain (1973). An avant-garde poet, Daumal (1908-1944) was an ardent spiritualist and a practitioner of pataphysics. He died before completing Mount Analogue, leaving it unfinished in the middle of Chapter 5; it was concluded and published by his wife, Véra. Octavo. Original blue boards, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket by Audrey Cruddas. Spine ends gently bumped, boards a little splayed, marks to edges, neat tape repair to front free endpaper; jacket unclipped, lightly soiled, spine toned, extremities nicked, short closed tears to front panel: a very good copy in like jacket.
