Octavo, 393pp., illustrated, plus advertisements. Two large folding plates at rear, another at p.220, and numerous other plates, including three albumen photographic plates from images by Rutherford. A good or better copy, sturdily rebacked with the original spine laid down. Some fraying to spine extremities, tiny edge chips to the frontispiece, and minor insect damage to the two large folding plates, otherwise a nice, complete example, with many pages unopened. Rarely found complete, as many stargazers have excised the enchanting photographs from other copies. An uncommon forensic 19th century work on Earth's nearest neighbor. Seller Inventory # 10460
