First edition. Hard cover with blue-grey cloth and embossed decoration to front; raised bands and gold embossed title to spine. Frontispiece engraving of Croyland Abbey with tissue guard. Cover has mottled staining to front, and wear to corners and spine. There is a previous owner's inscription in ink on the front endpaper opposite to a small bookplate . The front endpaper is split at the binding. Pre-title page has a neat college stamp. There is a little foxing and general fading throughout. Condition of contents is good.
