First edition, 1902. Hardback. Each section separately paginated. Black leather spine with gilt over blue boards. No jacket. The book is divided into twelve sections, each covering a geographic region: Britain, America, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway & Finland, Italy and Switzerland. Over 100 images, some in colour. Book in very good condition. Ex reference library copy. Boards lightly rubbed and soiled. Library classification number in gilt to foot of spine. Printed book plate of Newport Reference Library to front paste down and library bar code sticker to front free end paper. Printed donation plate to rear paste down and small library number sticker to rear free end paper. Previous owner's name in ink to head of title page. Small library stamp to title page. This stamp also appears throughout the book, particularly to reverse of plates that were presumably considered 'removable'. Internally quite clean and bright, just an occasional light soil mark and a very few examples of light spotting.
