EXTREMELY RARE FIRST MODERN LIBRARY EDITION WITH DUST JACKET! **PART OF THE BOSTON BOOK CO. MODERN LIBRARY COLLECTION** Moby Dick by Herman Melville. New York. First printed by The Modern Library in 1926 this is the FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING. First Modern Library Edition 1926 stated on the copyright page. This is a VERY attractive copy of a rare Modern Library title in an INCREDIBLY RARE dust jacket. Bound in black leatherette (spine #4) with Bernhard end papers. The book is VERY GOOD. Solid binding nice and tight, bright gilt on cover and spine, matching top stain. Contents are clean with no owner's signature or other writing in text. GORGEOUS! The incredibly rare dust jacket is GOOD+ with chipping at extremities and paper loss on spine and front flap otherwise very clean and bright! 95 cent price present on inside flap. Titles listed on the dust jacket matches this to a 1926 First Modern Library printing. THESE EARLY MODERN LIBRARY DUST JACKETS WERE CONSIDERED "WRAPPING PAPER" BY CUSTOMERS AND WERE COMMONLY THROWN AWAY AFTER PURCHASE WHICH MAKES THEM EXTREMELY RARE!! Now protected in an archival-quality dust jacket protector. EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND EARLY MODERN LIBRARY EDITION IN DUST JACKET ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION! This book is part of the Modern Library collection from the Boston Book Company which comprised 1,917 modern library volumes and was used to create A Descriptive Bibliography of The Modern Library: 1917 - 1970 by George M. Andes in 1989.
