Stepfather of the prominent artist Baltusz (Balthus, Balthasar Klossowski de Rola, 1908 2001) was a prominent poet Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926). When the artist was 10 years old he created a series of sketches about his cat name Mitsou, and the poet was charmed by the work of the young boy and made it to the lovely book. Text in French. In 4to. 24.6x18.5cm. 13p+40l. B/w illustrations. UNOPENED copy. Uncut pages. One creasing on the few pages, and waving. Hard cardboard cover. Original dust jacket in a fine condition. Only edges are very slightly browned. Otherwise scarcely fine condition.

Established in 2003, we are a bookshop with a medium size stock of rare books, mainly illustrated books and children's books published before the twentieth century. We also have rare art books, photography and graphic design books. Additionally, we stock Japanese paintings, wood-block prints and photograph prints.
