First UK edition of one of the earliest published Nigerian cookery books penned by a Nigerian woman. Rhoda Omosunlola Johnston-Smith (c.1925-2017) authored over 30 books and was a key proponent of women's education and Yoruba culture and traditions. This compendium offers "useful information on every aspect of cookery. No Nigerian home should be without it" (jacket). Octavo. Colour frontispiece, 2 black and white photographic plates, line drawings in text by Mora Dickson. Small errata slip tipped to foreword. Original green boards, spine lettered and decorated in pink. With dust jacket. Ownership inscription to front free endpaper. Slight bumping to head of spine and corners, foot of spine lightly toned, outer leaves and edges foxed; jacket rubbed but bright, top edge lightly worn and soiled, unclipped: a very good copy in like jacket.
